From the producers of Beck and The Bridge comes a new series of hard-hitting crime drama, based on the bestselling novels by Arne Dahl.

Arne Dahl

The Final Season: Kerstin Holm leads a brand new ‘A Unit’ when the group is reformed after a series of brutal murders hits Polish nurses in Sweden. Kerstin builds her team with ex-colleagues and former members: analyst and lateral-thinker Arto Söderstedt, IT expert Jorge Chavez, streetwise enforcer Gunnar Nyberg and trafficking expert Sara Svenhagen, plus new recruit (and language whiz) Ida Jankowicz. Paul Hjelm drops by to lend a hand following his promotion as head of Internal Affairs. Demands and expectations have never been higher and a cold wind blows through the corridors at the National Police headquarters. Can Kerstin get the unit to deliver on its promise – or is this new effort a misguided attempt by a paranoid police force in a time of increasingly unusual and refined criminal activity? This second and final season consists of ten hourlong episodes, adapting the last five of writer Arne Dahl’s ‘Intercrime’ novels.

*Due to distribution limitations, season 1 of ‘Arne Dahl’ is available to U.S. MHz Choice subscribers only.

Cast of Characters

Kerstin Holm
A loyal, detail-oriented and determined leader, Kerstin rises to the challenge of heading a reformed ‘A Unit’ following Jenny Hultin’s retirement. Her tough exterior means she sometimes has a hard time allowing herself to show weakness. A single mother, she strives to do her best for her son, Anders, and has an on-again/off-again romance with her former ‘A Unit’ colleague Paul Hjelm.

Arto Söderstedt
Arto is the thinker of the group. Calm and intellectual, he’s a workaholic who has difficulty turning off his cell phone. He has a background in law and maybe helped a few too many criminals in his capacity as a defense attorney in Finland – which explains his accent and his unique knowledge of international crime syndicates. He and his wife Anja have five children (count ’em!) and a harmonious marriage.

Gunnar Nyberg
Known as Sweden’s biggest police officer, Gunnar is driven by strong feelings of guilt over his past as a former bodybuilder, steroid junkie and spouse abuser. Big and gruff, Gunnar can be threatening when he needs to, but he’s a good guy with a heart of gold. Long-since divorced, he’s had no contact with his two adult children since they were little. Outside of work, he enjoys singing with the church choir and being shy around women.

Jorge Chavez
Jorge is an IT expert with capabilities beyond the norm. Growing up, he was part of a gang in Norsborg and still has many personal contacts to help him penetrate that world. He has a naive over-confidence in his own self-control and abilities, which can get him into trouble. On the personal side, Jorge is married to his ‘A Unit’ colleague Sara Svenhagen, and together they have a young daughter. Paul Hjelm is his closest friend on the police force.

Sara Svenhagen
Reliable, tenacious and results-oriented, Sara has a disturbing breadth of knowledge about the world of trafficking and the sex trade, and she has witnessed many terrible things in the course of her job. Because of this, she has a hard time letting things go – and she’s also had some difficulty bonding with her young daughter, Isabel. Her marriage to her ‘A Unit’ colleague Jorge Chavez is passionate and stormy, but they are both 100% committed to each other, their daughter and their jobs.

Paul Hjelm
Paul’s new division investigates crimes committed within the police force, which immediately brings him into contact with the new ‘A Unit’ – along with the fact that he has an on-again/off-again romance with Kerstin Holm, his former partner in the original ‘A Unit’. The fact that he is afraid of conflict doesn’t help when he has to investigate his co-workers’ activities. Paul can have a hard time expressing his feelings, but he is loyal to his friends and a very talented investigator as well. His best friend is Jorge Chavez, one of the few people in whom he feels he can confide.
