The Swedish Queen of Crime is back! MHz Choice proudly presents the U.S. premieres of the original TV movies based on Camilla Läckberg’s bestselling mystery novels The Preacher, The Stonecutter and The Stranger!

Premiering April 25!

Produced several years before the subsequent Fjällbacka Murders series, these adaptations star Niklas Hjulström and Elisabet Carlsson as Detective Patrik Hedström and his fiancée, the novelist Erica Falck. As always, the couple becomes enmeshed in complex crimes affecting all the residents of their tiny coastal community of Fjällbacka on Sweden’s west coast. Both actors have fine Swedish Noir pedigrees – Elisabet Carlsson is probably best-known to MHz Choice viewers for playing Gunvald’s sister in several seasons of Beck, and Niklas Hjulström is a popular character actor who played Annika Bengtzon’s love interest in the feature film adaptations of Paradise and Deadline. He’s also a singer, and – with Anders Melander as the pop duo Cue – topped the charts in Scandinavia with the 1997 single ‘Burnin’.

Niklas’ father, Lennart Hjulström, is another face well-known to MHz Choice viewers – in addition to portraying Martin Beck’s arch-enemy Gavling in the first season of Beck, his list of credits includes stints as Johan Falk’s boss Sellberg in the Johan Falk Trilogy, as Mikael Persbrandt’s uncle in Medicine Man and as DG in Persbrandt’s two Hamilton movies – In The Interest of the Nation and But Not If It Concerns Your Daughter. In the Camilla Läckberg series, Hjulström Sr. guest stars in ‘The Preacher’ as the powerful title character, and the scenes between real-life father and son are electric.

The 90-minute TV movie version of ‘The Preacher’ is followed by a pair of two-part adaptations of the novels ‘The Stonecutter’ and ‘The Stranger’, the latter of which is also published in English as ‘The Gallows Bird’. In these final episodes, Patrik and Erica are planning their wedding, and the series ends with the couple taking their vows – thus leading nicely into the Fjällbacka Murders series, despite the change of actors!

Camilla Läckberg premieres April 25th on MHz Choice.
